Texas State Laws for Honey Production, Selling, and Packaging

There are three regulatory frameworks under which people sell honey in Texas. The largest operations fall under ordinary manufactured-food law. There’s a set of exemptions for Beekeeper Honey Producers which allow sales with less red tape if your operation meets certain criteria. Finally, effective 1 September 2019, Senate Bill 572 adjusted the wording of the cottage-food law: while FBBA does not mean to promote any particular legal interpretation, some people believe this change allows honey to be sold as a cottage food. We provide the link to the law and suggest you perform your own due diligence.
